ABOUT OUR SPEAKER:
Ashley Currie is currently tapping into her natural proclivity to connect and share people’s stories as the Marketing Director for Launch Tennessee and Publisher of Urbaanite, Nashville’s growing local lifestyle publication celebrating the people, places and soul of the city from the African American lens. As a Nashville native, Ashley created Urbaanite to be a safe space for her community to discover the best in food, art, wellness, history and cultural attractions in the city. Urbaanite has won two Nashville ADDY Awards and connects with thousands of people each day.
Ashley enjoys balancing storytelling at Urbaanite with her role at LaunchTN where she has the opportunity amplify the entrepreneurial ecosystem across the state through events, partnerships and programming. Previously she worked in corporate marketing and the advertising agency arena, leading national multicultural campaigns for Denny’s, BMW and United Methodist Communications prior to heading up her own consulting agency for 8 years. When she is not sharing stories, you can find her trying out the latest restaurants or honing her own at-home chef skills, laughing with family or checking out a new hiking trail. Ashley is a true advocate for people living life on purpose and tries to live by the motto “either it’s a blessing or a lesson”.
